6th – Dias De Los Muertos
Sixth grade art students have been wrapping up quarter one learning about Mexican and South American cultural traditions. Our focus has been on Dia de los Muertos, a festive and colorful celebration of the departed which is takes place on November 1st and 2nd. Students have been working with a variety of mixed media to create a personal “Nicho” that celebrates someone or something special in their lives.
7th – Heroes
In honor of the Sweethearts and Heroes program that came to Rundlett Middle School on September 28thand National Tolerance Day on November 16, our 7th graders did a portrait of a hero. Students learned what it meant to be a hero and chose one from the many heroes from various walks of life. Students also learned about facial proportions and value and used a combination of paint and chalk pastels to create their portraits. For more information on heroes: www.myhero.com, www.
